"To be wronged is nothing unless you continue to remember it." - Confucius
A friend sent me this quote today after I had told him about "Mr. Big" (yes remember him?!). Just like an annoying fly, Mr. Big continues to fly in and out of my life when he feels he wants to. I don't give into his messages or his games but once I received this quote I knew exactly why my friend had sent it to me. Then I did what I do best, I started thinking about it. The quote, not Mr. Big. This quote is simply amazing. It gives us the power to forget the wrong that has been done to us. Often people do the opposite. They sit and sulk about how someone did them wrong or how someone has hurt them. How about we try the opposite??
I will give you an example. Let's continue with Mr. Big since I already used him to begin with. Mr. Big was someone who I adored dearly but he continued to do shady things to me and continued to hurt me. Long story short, he made me feel like a vulnerable individual and I never thought I was good enough (sad I know but it happens to the best of us). After things ended, I continued to sulk and be sad. Even worse was, whenever he sent me a message or tried to convince me that he "likes" me again, I believed it. Then he did what he does best, become shady and I sulked again.
What if I just choose to not remember? Then Mr. Big doesn't have much power does he? I know every girl reading this is probably like "you can't just forget someone you loved!!" Yes but if you forgive them of the wrong they did to you then, hmmm..what's that other saying, "Forgive and forget," that would apply here. If you acknowledge the wrong, forgive the wrong and then finally, forget the wrong then like Confucius said, "To be wronged is nothing unless you continue to remember it."
Thank you to my friend who sent me the wonderful quote.
Comments? Love to hear them!
