Twenty Something Diaries: "Staying on track when you can't hit the track"


Life can get so chaotic and as much as I'd love to stick to my commitment to the gym or getting in a workout, it doesn't always end up happening. Appointments, getting sick, long work days, they all happen and more often than not, we can't control those circumstances. But, what we can control is how we eat, what we drink and how we allow our day to affect us on the days we know we won't be able to get in a workout.

Keeping it healthy on "no gym today" kind of days:

1. Keep yourself away from those treats. Make sure you don't overindulge because you know you won't be able to spend the hour burning it off.

2. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water or herbal teas. Stay away from tons of coffee, energy drinks or sugar loaded beverages.

3. Try to get in some sort of cardio. Whether its taking a walk around the office, standing up, if you sit a lot or even a walk at the end of your day.

4. Eat healthy. Load up on the protein and veggies through your meals. Make your snacks nutritious too.
